Jake Jury is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Charlotte 49ers softball program. Jury brings eight years of collegiate coaching experience to the 49ers softball program.
“We have made a great hire and addition to our coaching staff, with the hiring of Jake Jury,” DeVos said. “Jake will make an immediate impact with the 49er offense and will be the program's recruiting coordinator.”
Jury came to Charlotte after spending this past year as the business manager of The Cage, a softball and baseball indoor training facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While at the Cage, he was responsible for skill development as well as budgeting and marketing.
Prior to joining the staff at The Cage, he served three years as an assistant softball coach at Georgia Tech (2014-16). He played an integral role in helping Courtney Ziese earn second-team All-ACC honors in 2016. He worked primarily with the hitters as well as the outfielders.
Prior to joining the Georgia Tech coaching staff, he served one season as an assistant coach at College of Charleston where he helped the Cougars earn a second-place finish in the Southern Conference in 2013. In 2013, he was promoted to assistant coach after serving four years as a volunteer assistant coach at the College of Charleston (2009-12). College of Charleston recorded consecutive 37 wins seasons in 2011 and 2012 while Jury was on the coaching staff.
The Anderson, South Carolina native graduated from the College of Charleston in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Jury’s younger sister Leslie Jury pitched for the University of Alabama’s 2012 National Championship team.
"I couldn't be more excited to join the program here at Charlotte,” Jury said. “I am very thankful to Coach Aimee DeVos and Athletic Director Judy Rose for affording me the opportunity to join this great athletic department. I am looking forward to continue building upon the incredible foundation that has been established and consistently competing for Conference USA championships."
